I am very proud to have been awarded at the City of Pembroke Pines 19th Annual Art Competition on May 24, 2024.

The piece "A Woodland Dream" is an encaustic mixed media piece. It involved melted wax and oil based pigments which were manipulated with heat gun. Shellac and alcohol ink were activated using a blow torch. Oil pastels were used to add color. Ceracolors water-based wax paint was used for some detail. A brush with wax was dragged onto the surface to create bark texture. Soft pigment was pushed into areas that had been carved out. There are many techniques that can be used with encaustic - which makes this a fun medium to work in.
